WARNING all dog owners

Forgive me if everybody else knows this already, but I've had dogs in France for 15 years and only just discovered it. If you see pine trees with candy floss nests in them, and on the ground the hairy caterpillars that live therein, do NOT let your dog touch these beasties. They are very toxic, at the least may cause serious damage to tongue and mouth tissue, at worse death by suffocation if the swelling blocks airwaves. Said to be a problem only in early spring, but I have seen some recently so don't count on it. If the worst happens, get vet help FAST and explain "chenilles processionaires".
